Here are some of the key points: More effective action must also be taken to prevent the displacement of additional people and protect civilian infrastructure. Every effort must be made to ensure unhindered and continued humanitarian assistance for civilians, including food, water, medical care, fuel and shelter, and access for humanitarian workers. We’re talking about more than 60 days of constant movement and running for their lives from one place to another, from the extreme northern part of the Gazan City of Beit Hanoon to the extreme south by Rafah, where many people are being packed and squeezed. Click Two months of war Two months ago, Israel declared war on Hamas after its deadly attack on October 7. Here is a quick recap of key developments: On October 7, Hamas fighters launched an unprecedented assault into Israel, killing at least 1,147 people, including 320 Israeli soldiers and 59 policemen. About 240 people were taken captive. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war with the promise to destroy Hamas’s military and governmental capabilities and to return all hostages. A day later, Israel imposed a total blockade on Gaza, including a ban on admission of food, electricity and fuel. Weeks of intensive and indiscriminate bombing followed, destroying entire neighbourhoods in Gaza. At the end of October, Israel unleashed its second phase of the war by starting a ground operation in northern Gaza. On November 24, a weeklong truce mediated by Qatar took effect. Panic in Rafah as Israeli army strikes city overnight Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Rafah in the Gaza Strip, said on Thursday that despite Israeli orders for people from central Gaza and Khan Younis to evacuate to the city for safety, the city experienced heavy shelling overnight. The Israeli army “ordered with a threatening tone to move to Rafah because it is safe, but as of last night overnight … at least five residential homes were targeted and destroyed. And we’re talking about a large number of people who were killed,” he said. “[These strikes] are not concentrated in one area of Rafah … multiple locations were targeted, just sending waves of fear and concern that confirm what people have talked about and expressed before – there is literally no safe place…

Nepal has arrested a gang that it accuses of smuggling people to be forced to join the Russian military campaign in Ukraine. A man has been charged with two counts of assault for allegedly spitting on Muslim students at Western University in Ontario, Canada. The male, who has also been barred from varsity premises, was arrested by the university’s special constable service after two incidents were reported. It wasn’t specified if the accused, who is scheduled to appear before a court, was a student at the university. In a post shared by WU’s Muslim Students Association (MSA) on its Instagram account, the MSA stated: “We strongly condemn the actions of the repeat offender, and extend our gratitude to Western University and Campus Police for their support during this process.” “It is crucial to acknowledge that this isolated incident is just one manifestation of the broader issue of hatred and Islamophobia that continues to persist at Western…we recognise that there is much work to be done in combating the root causes of discrimination,” the association added. In the same Instagram post, the MSA listed a total of nine Islamophobic incidents they claim have taken place on campus over the last month, including instances of physical assault and car tires being slashed. In a statement shared by WU with The Gazette, Western University’s official student newspaper, the varsity said: “Western is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment and we are here to support our students. The death toll from floods in northern Tanzania following torrential rains this weekend has risen to 63, officials have said. At least 15 houses were “completely destroyed” more than 15 people were killed, including children. Many wounded are still trapped under the rubble. Residents are now working with their bare hands to rescue victims. There is no equipment or ambulances, they said. “We have been destroyed,” said one resident who survived the attack. “We did nothing to deserve this… we were all sleeping.” Another survivor added: “Nobody cares about us. Security forces in Pakistan have killed two gunmen who attacked a convoy of Chinese workers in the country’s southwestern Balochistan province. “Two attackers were killed in the operation, which has now concluded,” Gawadar Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakar Baloch told Al Jazeera on Sunday. end of list Local police official Jawad Tariq said all members of the Chinese convoy and security officials involved in the exchange of fire remained unharmed. The Chinese consulate general in the southern city of Karachi issued a safety warning, according to Global Times. “The consulate urged people to maintain high vigilance and strictly control large-scale gathering activities due to the severe security situation,” it said. Balochistan, bordering Iran and Afghanistan, is strategically important because of its rich copper, zinc and natural gas reserves. Cities in the province are a constant target of armed groups. Much of the violence is seen as a reaction by rebels to China’s investment plans in the region to link its Xinjiang province with the Arabian Sea in Balochistan through a network of roads and rail. HYDERABAD-Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amjad Ahmed Shaikh on Tuesday said that four dacoits, involved in cash van robbery, were killed while their accomplices managed to escape during an encounter in the limits of P.S Hatri late Monday night. A policeman was also injured in the encounter, while the police also recovered Rs 51 million cash, one Kalashnikov, three pistols, two motorcycles and CNICs of the accused from the house where the dacoits were present at the time of the encounter, the SSP said while addressing press conference at Police Headquarters. In retaliatory fire, three of the accused and their accomplice Anis were killed on the spot while the other accused managed to escape, Amjad said and added that the injured policeman, Asad Chana was shifted to civil hospital for medical aid. The SSP said the slain robbers were identified as Zahir alias Mamo alias Qasim Mastoi, Anees Chana, Aqib Mastoi and Zaheer Abro. They were involved in looting of millions of rupees from a private security company van that was carrying cash of over Rs 300 million to HBL Moro branch. Amjad said that one of the accused Anis was already arrested and on his indication, a house was raided in Sadiq Leona to arrest them but the accused opened firing at police. The SSP said that the police had already arrested van driver Asghar Shah and Mirza who had admitted their involvement with the dacoits. He said that Anis had said in the statement given to the police that 11 accused including him (Anis) had looted the van. He said that the police investigation revealed that Tahir alias Mamo, was wanted in nine other serious crimes, including robbery. Wafa news agency, quoting local sources, said 40 Israeli army four-wheel drives, accompanied by a bulldozer, raided the camp and the neighbourhood in the morning.
