Vietnam Country Report
Vietnam is a communist country in Southeast Asia. The country has experienced significant economic and social development in recent years with the implementation of several liberalization reforms by the government. However, efforts to further reduce control over socio-economic and political spheres are uncertain due to the dominance of conservative leadership. The regime remains stable and there are no known threats that could undermine political stability in the short to medium term.
Crime and terrorism pose little threat to travelers visiting this country. Although no uprising has occurred, anti-Chinese sentiment has led to violent riots targeting Chinese facilities. The number of protests and strikes has increased, while tensions have risen over disputed territory with China, leading to a number of small-scale maritime skirmishes between the two countries. Corruption and weak rule of law can have a significant impact on business activities.
Parts of Vietnam are vulnerable to earthquakes and powerful typhoons. In addition, the entire country is prone to extreme weather conditions due to El Nino and La Niña phenomena. Medical care is limited and there are concerns about the spread of counterfeit drugs.

Security
The threat of terrorism is low. In the same way, foreigners mostly face petty and opportunistic crimes while in the country. But there are also concerns about violence due to widespread anti-Chinese sentiment. Anti-Chinese demonstrations have also been held from time to time in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Infrastructure
Although there are no major safety concerns, land travel can be dangerous. Cybercrime is also a concern, and the lack of awareness among Internet users and the lack of resources to combat cybercriminals may increase the impact of threats. Internet speed is slow, but electricity is available and prices are relatively low compared to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.

Environment
Vietnam, especially the northern and central regions, is vulnerable to earthquakes due to the presence of various active faults within the territory. Similarly, the northern and central coastal areas of the country are subject to powerful storms during the hurricane season from June to November. In addition, unexploded mines and weapons left over from decades of the Vietnam War are still a danger in some rural and isolated areas of the country.
