Monaco is an independent city-state located on the Mediterranean Sea and borders France on three sides. Monaco is a principality governed under a constitutional monarchy. The current head of government is Prince Albert II.
Most domestic travel and activities are safe. Criminal activity and social unrest are rare and Monaco is not at risk of conflict. The political climate is stable and it is almost certain that things will change in the near future. Monaco faces a general terrorist threat due to the presence of potential targets on its territory.
Monaco is a major tourist attraction along the French Riviera and is home to several major financial institutions. It is a major cruise port where many foreign ships gather. Public facilities, travel and medical infrastructure are very well maintained.
