LIVE: Israeli forces attack north Gaza shelters just after UN delivers aid

  • The United Nations says Israel let only one aid mission into besieged north Gaza this month and attacked the shelters the supplies were distributed at shortly afterwards.
  • The UN’s aid chief says the world is “witnessing acts reminiscent of the gravest international crimes in Gaza” as Israel dismisses warnings of famine in the enclave as “slanderous”.
  • The US says support to Israel will continue after a 30-day deadline to boost aid to Gaza or face cuts to weapons funding expired. Aid groups say Israel has worsened conditions in the enclave in the time period.
  • The Israeli military killed 64 people in Gaza and another 28 in Lebanon as it presses on with its campaign of relentless bombings.
  • Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 43,665 Palestinians and wounded 103,076 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and more than 200 were taken captive.
  • In Lebanon, at least 3,287 people have been killed and 14,222 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.

Six buildings have been placed under forced evacuation orders. This is one of the most densely populated areas of Beirut.We heard two very loud explosions in the past half-hour as well.The Israeli attack earlier on Dawhet Aramoun, which killed six people, was in an area not associated with Hezbollah; it’s far from any place where Hezbollah has a presence.It’s 22km (14 miles) south of Beirut. The Israelis haven’t said what they are attacking.

It is a duty and responsibility,” he said from the airport.“We reject making the election of the president a condition for the ceasefire, and we reject any external impositions in the Lebanese presidential file,” he added.Lebanon has not had a president since the term of Michel Aoun expired in October 2022.Abdelatty is expected to meet senior Lebanese officials, including caretaker PM Mikati, regarding the ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon.
