- Norway investigates possible link into Lebanon pager explosionsNorway has begun a preliminary investigation into reports that a Norwegian-owned company was linked to the pagers that exploded in Lebanon last week.“[Norway’s security police, PST] has initiated a preliminary investigation to determine whether there are reasons for starting a [full] investigation on the basis of allegations in the media that a Norwegian-owned company may have been involved in the dissemination of pagers to Hezbollah,” PST lawyer Haris Hrenovica told Reuters news agency.Bulgarian authorities began investigating Sofia-based company Norta Global last week. The company was founded in 2022 by Norwegian citizen Rinson Jose.Jose has been working in the sales department of DN Media Group since 2020, according to the company and Jose’s LinkedIn profile. He left for a conference in Boston, US on September 17, but his employer told Reuters they have not been able to reach him since he last contacted his colleagues by email on September 18.The pager explosions in Lebanon killed 39 people, wounded thousands and are widely believed to have been carried out by Israel, which has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement.Taiwan, Hungary and Bulgaria are also investigating possible links in the supply chain.
